Definitions
- the invention relates to a protective or holding device for holding small animals, especially dogs in motor vehicles, which device consists of a leash attachable to a harness or collar and a coupling device connected to the leash, which is provided with a seat belt device provided on the vehicle is connectable.
- a holding device of the type mentioned at the outset has also become known, in which the coupling device consists of a locking element which can be latched into the buckle of a motor vehicle seat belt;
- This known protective or holding device can be operated easily and allows a firm hold to be achieved, but suffers from the fact that different types of locks are used on motor vehicle seat belts and the locking element has to be designed for a specific type and therefore not together with the other locks can work.
- the aim is also to achieve a safe positioning or definition of the area where the animal in question is in the vehicle.
- the protection or holding device of the type mentioned above is characterized in that the coupling device has a holding body which is provided with a slotted opening, the diameter or largest inside dimension of which is approximately the same size as the width of a motor vehicle seat belt, and that the slot leading outward from the opening has a width which permits the pushing through of such a motor vehicle seat belt. Due to the inventive design, the above-mentioned objective can be met very well.
- the seat belt on the vehicle is connected to the harness or collar of the animal to be secured via a line and a coupling device can also be used by people in the usual way if necessary; this is because the connection of the coupling device to the seat belt device is carried out on the belt itself, so that this seat belt device can be closed in the usual manner by latching its own locking member into its associated belt buckle. This closing can also be carried out when the safety belt device in question is not required to secure a person, where, in this case too, there is the advantage of a better position of the connection point with the coupling device, since in the closed state of the belt buckle and the locking device limb the mobility of the belt is severely restricted.
- connection of the line to a seat belt device provided on the vehicle can be accomplished very simply by pushing the belt through the slot into the opening provided in the holding body; the stiffness inherent in the belt prevents it from leaving the opening through the slot by itself, but the belt can be pulled out of the opening by hand without difficulty if the holding body is to be detached from the belt.
- a preferred embodiment of the safety or holding device according to the invention which allows the holding body to be held very well on the belt, is characterized in that the opening has an elongated shape and that the slot leading outward from the opening is approximately in the middle of the longitudinal extension the opening is arranged. A further improvement of the hold can be achieved even when larger loads occur and with highly flexible belts, if one.
- the holding body is expediently designed in the form of a plate which is provided with the aforementioned opening. If you want to achieve a particularly simple operability, you can provide a detachable connection of the holding body with the line using a detachable snap hook.
- a sliding buckle can advantageously be arranged on the leash in order to fix the connection point of the holding body with the leash, which is important for restricting the movement space which the animal to be secured can occupy in the vehicle.
- FIG. 1 shows a preferred embodiment of a protective or holding device designed according to the invention, which is attached to a harness intended for a dog and in turn is connected to a seat belt device of a vehicle
- FIG. 2 shows the device according to FIG. 1 3 and 4 modified embodiments of such a holding body
- FIG. 5 the connection of the holding body with a seat belt.
- Fig. 1, 1 is a conventional harness, as it is often used in dogs and other small animals to attach the leash.
- a harness provides a good hold of the line in the area of the front legs of the animal and avoids mechanical stress on the animal's neck.
- a lanyard 3 is attached to the belt harness 1 by means of a snap hook 2 or another detachable connection, which ends in a usual manner in a hand strap 4.
- a holding body 6 is attached to the line 3 with a further releasable connection, which is preferably in the form of a releasable snap hook or carabine hook 5.
- the connection point between the line 3 and the holding body 6 is fixed by a sliding buckle 23.
- the holding body 6 in turn connects the line 3 to a seat belt device 7.
- This seat belt device 7 is formed from two belt sections 8, 9, a belt buckle 10 and a closing member 11.
- the belt sections 8, 9 are anchored in a conventional manner in a vehicle.
- the holding body 6, which is shown in detail in FIG. 2, has an opening 12, the diameter or largest inside dimension 14 of which is approximately the same size as the width 15 of the belt 8, 9.
- a slot 16 leads outward from the opening 12, the width 17 of which is selected to be sufficiently large so that the belt 8, 9 can be inserted through the slot 16 into the opening 12 and, if desired, can be pushed out of this opening again through said slot.
- the opening 12 has an elongated shape and the outwardly leading slot 16 is arranged approximately in the middle of the length of the opening 12.
- the sections 12a, 12b of the edge of the opening 12 lying on both sides of the slot run approximately symmetrically to the geometric center line 18 laid through the slot 16 obliquely to one another at an angle ⁇ ⁇ 180 °.
- This angle d is open to the slot 16.
- the holding body 6 itself is preferably designed in the form of a plate, but can e.g. can also be realized by a rod bent according to the edge of the opening 12.
- the connection of the holding body 6 to a belt is possible in a simple manner by the belt being pushed through the slot 16 of the holding body into the opening 12, the edge 8a of the belt on one section of the opening 12 is deflected towards it, as indicated by the arrow 22, this insertion movement being continued until the other edge 8b of the belt 8 is used, taking advantage of the elastic properties of the belt. Gap 16 has passed and penetrates into the opening 16, after which the belt 8 in the opening 12 is straightened again or pulled smooth. If the holding body 6 is to be detached from the belt 8, the procedure is reversed.
