DESIGN FOR A CORNER-PIECE FOR COFFINS AND GASKETS.
Application filed September 11, 1914. Serial No. 861,310.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ADoLPH M. Hons'rnm, a citizen of the United States, residing at Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Corner-Piece for Coffins and Caskets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part hereof.
In the drawing, Figures 1, 2 and 3 are, respectively, side and front elevations and top plan View of my design for a corner piece for coflins and caskets.
This design of corner piece for coffins comprises an embossed figure in the general form of a pillar around Which a pall is draped, the pillar having an enlarged top and base and an intermediate or body part of less width than the top and base. The base of, the pillar is formed with a central substantially spherical portion 1, concentric marginal side ridges 2 and depressions 3 between the portion 1 and the ridges 2. The top of the pillar is formed with a transverse bar portion 4 of rounding cross-see tion and with side ridges 5 at the ends of the bar portion, these ridges 5 having concave inner sides and having the lower ends of their outer sides merging into the length- Wise sides of the intermediate or body part Patented Jan. 5, 1915.

The intermediate or body part of the corner piece is formed at its sides with lengthwise ridges 7 merging at their bottoms into the ridges 2 and having inner side surfaces 8 converging downwardly. These ridges 7 are connected by concave ridges 9 extending transversely of the intermediate or body part of the corner piece and curving upwardly from their central portions, the ridges above the lowest ridge 9 being raised outwardly beyond the next lower ridge. Above the topmost ridge 9 is a transverse part 10 in the form of a portion of a cylinder and depressed below the plane of the outermost ridge 9. This part 10 is connected to the transverse bar portion 4 by a neck-like part 11.
I claim:
The ornamental design for a corner piece for coffins and caskets, substantially as shown and described.
