DESIGN FOR BROOMS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part: of the same.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, RICHARD W. ENGLISH, of Bnflalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented anew Design for Brooms, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing.

My invention consists of a novel design for brooms, and the peculiar characteristic of it consists in making it, with the lower part of the handle, close to or near the point where the brush is attached, of difi'erent color from the rest of the handle, preferably ofa dark color, as represented in the accompanying drawmg.

This design may be made by painting the same on the handle, or it may be made by pasting on the handle a piece of properly-prepared paper, which is the simplest and cheapest method of producing the same.

To render the design more ornamental, I propose to make, near the upper and lower ends of this col orod portion, one or more light or gilt bands, as represented in the drawing, though this is not an essential element of my design, as it may be made without them.
