SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 36,203 dated January 27, 1903.

Application filed December 26. 1902. Serial No. 136,751. Term of patent 3% years To all whont it may concern:

Be it known that I, DE \VATT PEPPER, acitizen of the United States, residing at New Milford, in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Divan-Frame; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertaius to make and use the same.

The accompanying drawing shows a front elevation of my new design.

As shown in the drawing, the leading or material features of my design consist of the unornamented back-rail portions 1, horizontally disposed and terminated at their outer extremities in a series of inwardly-curved ribs 2, intersected at their lower ends by a series of ribs 3, that are substantially horizontal, and knob-like ornamentations at immediately beyond the ribs 3, said portions 1 extending from a centrally-disposed ornamental figure comprising acanthus-like ornamentations 5, rising from a central stem 6 and diverging in opposite directions, said stem having leaf-like ornamentations 7, ex tending on opposite sides of its lower end, while extending upwardly from said stem between the ornamentations 5 is a shell-like ornamentation 8, having a plurality of beaded figures 9 nearits lower end, this ornamentation comprising the parts G 7 8 9 being represented upon a panel 10, the lower end of which hasageneral V shape, but is bounded by compound curves; the sides 11, having a general scroll-like shape, the front surface of said sides being perfectly plain and bounded by compound curves, which gradually diverge from top to bottom; the seat-frame 12, whose front edge is horizontally disposed and perfectly plain and terminates at each end in knee-like portions 13, which constitute feet and are provided on their lower extremi ties with toe-like representations ll, and the ornamentation depending from the frame 12 and bounded at its lower edge by a series of compound curves 15,which adjoin each other, so as to form points 1 3.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The ornamental design for a divan-frame, as herein shown and described.
