* UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT LEWIS JOHNSON, OF I'IANLEY, ENGLAND.
DESIGN FOR A COVER-DISH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 36,114, dated October 21, 1902.
Application filed September 25, 1902. Serial No. 124,873. Term of patent 3i: years To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, ROBERT LnwIs JoIIN- SON, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of Hanley, county of Stafford, England, have invented and produced a new, original, and ornamental Design fora Gover- Dish, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which- Figure l is a plan view of a cover-dish einbodying the features of my design, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same.
In plan the cover of the dish appears with a scalloped edge and a border at the edge defined by an inner scalloped line and associated beadfigures. Said border is decorated with leaves and flowers of. the daisy type alternately placed. At the center of the cover oviform projections are grouped at intervals apart, and a floral handle appears at the center ofthe oviforln group, the stein of which handle terminates in foliate figures extending between the oviforln projections and partly thereon, and at each end of the cover scrollhandles arise from the ends of the body of the dish.
The body of the dish is ornamented at its upper edge with a border corresponding to that at the marginal portion of the cover.
'The lower exterior-.surface of the body of the dish is undulating, and the base is apparently separated from the body and riveted thereto. The base has a scalloped lower edge and is decorated with a scroll-border adjacent to the said edge and with a chain of pear-shaped figures adjacent to the scroll-border. The defining-line between the base and the body of the dish is undulating and conforms to the undulating exterior contour of the lower portion of the body.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The ornamental design for a cover-dish herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specication in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ROBERT LEWIS JOHNSON. lVitnesses:
ALFRED GOLLEY, JOHN I-I. CoPEsTAKE.
