UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES F. SMITH, OF NEWV BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGN OR TO LAN- DERS, FRARY & CLARK, OF NEIV BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A KNIFE-HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,826, dated March 25, 1902.
Application filed December 20, 1901. Serial No. 86,715. Term of patent 7 years.
To (LZZ whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES F. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Britain, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Knife-Handle, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a knife-handle, showing my design; Fig. 2 is a plan View of the same.
As shown in the drawings, the bolster end of the handle begins with a plain band 3, then a rounded head 4, both encircling the handle. Adjacent to the said head 4 there is an ornamental band 5 of considerable width and which is terminated with a rounded bead 6 and plain band 7. The ornaments on the wide band 5 consist, mainly, of scrolls that extend from head 4: to bead 6 at top and bottom, with shorter scrolls at the sides, as shown.
The body portion 8 of the handle is of an ordinary form. At the butt of the handle there are two top and bottom scroll-bands 9, with a shorter scroll ornament 10 at their confronting ends. The forward ends of the scroll-bands 9 meet the rounded head 11, in front of which is a plain band 12. At the sides there are shorter scrolls 13 and leaflets 14, partly overlapping the head 11 and band 12, all as shown. 7
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a knife-handle herein shown and described.
CHARLES F. SMITH.
