Be it known that I, EMERY O. I-IODGES, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Farmer City, in the county of Dewitt and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and originalDesign for Tombstones or Monuments, of which the following is a specification.
My invention is a new and useful design for a monument or tombstone, the object being 10 the provision of a design of this character and for this purpose which will combine the requisites of usefulness and beauty as well as be symbolic.
To attain the desired object, my invention I 5 consists of the design for a tombstone, as
shown and described herein.
The figure of the drawing represents afront View of my complete design, showing the combined features in their proper and relative positions.
The monument 0r tombstone consists of the horizontal tree-section forming the base A, having at either end the clinging-vine orna- Inentation B, and rising above the base is the tree stump or snag 0, having the inclined or cut-off top D, upon which rests the wreath or pillow of flowers spoke missing. At the base of the snag is the bunch of lilies F, and near the tops the grape-vine G, and on the side the lily ornamentation H, the whole forming a beautiful and symbolic design.
I claim- The design for a tombstone or monument herein shown and described.
