UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE,
JAMES SWAN, OF SEYMOUR, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A FlRMER-CHISEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,215, dated March 12, 1901.
Application filed February 14, 1901. Serial No. 47,385. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it "may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES SWAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Seymour, county of New Haven, State of Connecticut, have in vented and produced a new and original Design for a Firmer-Ohisel, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of my novel firmerchisel; Fig. 2, an edge View, and Fig. 3 a section on the line 3 3.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists of a firmer-chisel having a shape substantially as shown in the drawings and comprising straight sides inclining slightly toward each other from edge to base, the bottom being flat, the top consisting of a convex-curved plane, the center line of which inclines slightly toward the bottom from the base forward and the edge being formed by the intersection with the bottom of a plane lying at an acute angle to the bottom.
In the said drawings, 10 denotes the bottom; l1,the sides, which incline slightly toward each other from edge to base, as from a to b, and
12 denotes the top, which is a convex-curved plane the center line of which inclines slightly toward the bottom from the base forward to the intersection of the edge plane with the top, as from c to d. The top and sides intersect at lines indicated by 6, said lines 6 (one only being indicated in the drawings) inclining slightly toward the bottom from the base forward, as fromf to g.
13 denotes a plane at the forward end of the tool, which lies at an acute angle to the bottom, the edge It being formed by the intersection of this plane with the bottom, the intersection of plane 13 with the top being a convex-curved line, as indicated by h.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design fora firmer-chisel, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JAMES SWAN.
