To all whom it nuty concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES C. This invention relates to a new and original design for hooks, and more particularly for that type of hook wherein aguard is em ployed; and it is embodied in the form and configu- 15 ration of hook shown in the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings, Figure 1 represents a construction embodying the design, the same being shown in perspective. Fig. 2 represents the same in top elevation.
The design illustrated represents the body portion or shank A, terminating in a returnbend or hook B, and a member 0, overlying the shank portion and underlying the end of the hook portion 13. The rear portion of the shank is somewhat expanded or enlarged and merges into an enlarged extension D. This extension is fashioned with concaved side walls and is of a vertical width greater than that of the shank. It also extends laterally go beyond the shank, the upper and lower walls converging to the shank, as shown. The portion D is hollow, and theinner walls are curved to conform with and substantially to the our vature of the outer walls.
The design, as above shown and described, may be stated as relating to the general form of the hook; but the essential features are more particularly in the body portion, with its peculiarly-shaped rear portion terininat- 4o ing in the part I), substantially as shown.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is
The design for a hook, substantially as shown and described.
