JOHN C. CUMMINGS, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO, ASSIGNOR TO THE CLEVELAND MACIIINE SCREW COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A DUST-CAP FOR BALL-BEARINGS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,522, dated October 18, 1898.
Application filed September 12, 1898. Serial No. 690,801- Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JOHN C. CUMMINGS, a citizen of the United States, residing in Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Dust-Caps for Ball-Bearings, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure 1 is a perspective View of a dust-cap showing my new design. Fig. 2 is a central sectional view through one side of the same.
A dust-cap is usually made of a single piece of metal and comprises a short cylindrical body and an inwardly-turned annular flange at one end of said body.
My design relates to the body part of such a dust-cap. The loading or material features of my design consist of an internal spiral thread on said cylindrical body, an external 20 complementary spiral groove 011 said body, and a knurled external surface on said body.
In the drawings, A represents the body; a, the internal spiral thread; a, the external complementary spiral groove, and a the knurled external surface of said body.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a dust-cap for ball-bearings as herein shown and described.
