Description

15'141. OR D27u826 DESIGN.
G A. HOLMES.
MACHINE STANDARD.
No. 27,826. Patented Nov. 9, 1897.
, IAh/ENTDR p /7" Mam UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE A. HOLMES, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A MACHINE-STANDARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,826, dated November 9, 1897.
Application filed February 15, 1897. Serial No. 623,576. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE A. HOLMES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Machine-Standards, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing.
The figure of the drawing is a perspective view of the machine-standard embodying my design.
The leading feature of my design consists of a standard formed by three curved side s, rising from a rectangular base and converging toward their upper ends, upon which is supported a flat flanged table.
A, B, and O are the sides of the standard. A horizontal flange D runs around the lower edges of the sides. The front forward edges a and c of the sides A and O are cut away sharply at the base, curving backward and then forward and upward, and at the top outward again. The sides A and 0 rise perpendicularly from the base for a short distance and then curve inward, forward, and upward, being narrower at the top. These sides are decorated with a stripe running around the edge and upon their side. The back side I joins the other two sides and rises nearly perpendicularly from the flange l) for a short distance and then curves forward and upward, also narrowing toward the top. The upper end of my standard is thus also nearly a rectangular prism, but smaller than the lower end, and the three sides present to the eye a contour the lines of which are smooth graceful curves. The back side B, instead of being solid, as are the other sides, is paneled or out out, as shown in the drawing, the cross-bar G near the top only being left. The back side, as well as the table E, with its flange e, is also striped similar to the sides.
I claim- The design for a machine-standard herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
GEO. A. HOLMES.
Witnesses:
Wu. H. II. Dowsn, A. ll. FLANNERY.
