DESIGN.
L. KLEINHANS. BRAID.
No. 22,268. Patented Mar. 7, 1893.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LOUIS KLEINHANS, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE SUTRO BROS. BRAID COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR BRAID.
SPEOIFIGATION forming part of Design No. 22,268, dated March '7, 1593.
Application filed January 21, 1893. Serial No. 459,263 Term of patent 14 years.
To to whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, Louis KLEINHANS, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Braid to be Used by Way of Ornamentation and in Trimming Garments, &c.; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.
The design consists of a Soutache braid presenting in its outward or front face the following characteristics: A very narrow strand b followed by the two central strands a a which are of comparatively uniform size and width throughout and much wider than strand 1), followed by flat strand 0 which consists of a series of open overlapping loops resting one upon another and apparently extending outwardly from central strands a a. The leading features presented to the eye by a braid containing my said design are two central parallel fiat cords or strands of apparent uniform width shown by a well defined intervening groove at the point of interlocking, and ornamented on either side or edge by strands of unequal width and of entirely different appearance; on one side a strand much narrower than such central cords or strands, resembling a narrow fiat cord apparently attached and defined by aslight indentation at the point of interlocking; on the other side by a comparatively Wid e flat looped extension apparently projecting laterally from the central fiat cords being materially wider than the marginal small cord or strand on the opposite side or edge, the open loops resting one upon another assuming a rounded and somewhat irregular outer edge, all as clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
What I claim is The design for abraid, as herein shown and described.
LOUIS KLEINHANS.
