BOTTLE. A
No. 22,058. Patented Dec. 13, 1892.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK S. ROCKVVOOD AND FRANK B. ROCKVVOOD, OF ELMIIUSRT, ILLINOIS.
DESIIGN FOR A BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,058, dated December 13, 1892.
Application filed October 29, 1892. Serial No. 450,388. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that We, FREDERICK S. RocK- WOOD and FRANK B. RooKWooI), citizens of the United States, residing at Elmhurst, in the county of Du Page and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Bottles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing.
The figure in the drawing represents a View in elevation of a bottle embodying our novel design.
Although applicable to bottles of various kinds, our design has been produced with special reference to its employment; in connection with the manufacture of the class of bottles having wide mouths and commonly used for the purposes of packing such articles as olives and different kinds of small pickles of fine grades.
The special features of our design embrace, first, a series of vertical convex tinting or curved projections at the base of the bottle and extending around the periphery thereof for a portion of the length of the body of the bottle, and, second, at the upper portion of the bottle and at or near the junction of its neck and body we place a series of short vertical outwardly-curved projections or convex tinting, and above and below these projections is placed a ring or band, all extending around the periphery of the bottle. 7
In the drawing, A represents the body of the bottle, and B the neck thereof, the latter in this instance being provided with a wide month. At the base of the bodyAis a series of vertical convex fluting. or curved projections 0, which are arranged side by side around the periphery of the bottle and extending longitudinally upon the body of the bottle for a short distance thereon. Each of the projections G is rounded at the top, as at 0, thereby affording an ornamental outline to the top of the line of tinting. At or near the base of the neck of the bottle, where the latter broadens into the body A,we place a series of short vertical outwardly-curved projections D, which form a ring of convex fluting around the periphery of the bottle, and as an addition to the ornamental efiect narrow rings or bands (1 are provided and placed one above and one below the fluting D.
What we claim is- The design for bottles, substantially as herein shown and described.
