DESIGN FOR A FONT OF TYPE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,330, dated February 2, 1892. Application filed January 6, 1892- Serial No. 417,228. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORG F. GIESECKE, a citizen of Saxony, residing at Ireipsic, Saxony, Germany, have invented and produced a new and original Design for aliont of Type; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying im pression, forming a part thereof.
The annexed illustration shows an impression of the font.
The letter A has the crossbar made by turning the bottom of its second member back and crossing and reerossing both vertical members and ending in an upward thickened point. The letterB consists of astem slightly inclined to the right of a vertical line and having a curved base, from which rises the curved portions of the letter, passing backward behind the stem, and terminating across the stem below the loop, when the two front curves meet. The letter 0 consists of a curved stem, across which the top curves and on the under side of the stem is formed into a thickened band. The letter D has its stem with two loops at the top, and the curve comes around from the bottom over the top and terminates as in the letter B. The letter E has its top like that of the letter C. The letter F has its cross-bar provided with a depending curved line forming a loop with the cross-bar and crossing the stem of the letter. The letter G has a top like that of the letter 0. The letter II has its front part like the letter I, and its cross-bar is formed similar to that of the letter A, except that the base of the second stem turns to the left instead of to the right. The letter I is open at the top, the middle of its stem is thickened, the curved part crosses the stem, and the loop is elon- The letter J is like the letit extends below the line, as loop is larger than that of first part of the letter K is like the letter I. The other member of the letter K has a loop in it. The upper parts of the letters L and O are like the upper part of the letter O. The first parts of the letters M and N are like the letter I, and their third stems curve at the bottom to the left. The letters P and B have stems like that of the letter D and curves at the back like that of the letter B. The letter Q has its top line passing down within the letter, Where it is formed in several angles and then terminates in the tail. The letter S has a curved line crossing its stem at the middle. So, also, has the letter U. The first parts of the letters V and \V are like the letter I, except that the bottoms are shorter. The letter X has a crossbar similar to that of the letter A. The letter Y is like the letter U with a tail to it. The letter Z has a cross-bar similar to thatof the letter H. The letters b, d, f, h, k, and l have their tops curved to the right and terminate in a thickened point. The letters g and y have their bottoms turned to the left and terminate in a thickened point. One form of the letters 11, k, and n extends below the line.
What I claim is- The design for a font of type, herein shown. and described.
