DESIGN FOR A SPOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,045, dated September 15, 1891.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Gnonon WILKINsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at lrovi' dence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Ornamentation of the Handles of Spoons, Forks, &e.; and I do hereby declare the following specification, taken in connection with the accom- [o panying'drawings,forming a part of the same,
to be a description thereof.
In the illustrations, Figure 1 represents a front or face view of a spoon the handle of which is ornamented with the design. Fig.
r5 :2 shows a rear view of the spoon with the design upon that face of the handle.
Upon the faces of the spoon-handle and following the outline thereof the design is arranged and composed as follows: At the head of the handle A, upon its front face, is located a shell-like ornament 1. Below this, on the left-hand side, is a compound leaf-scroll 2 2. Below this scroll are located in succession three leaf-scrolls 3 4 5, the last mentioned extending, to the lower end of the handle. On the right-hand side of this face and below the ornament 1 is located a beaded scroll (i, and immediately thereunder a compound leafscroll 7 7 1. Below this compound scroll is 0 arranged a beaded scroll 8, and immediately thereunder a scroll 9, which extends to the lower end of the handle. ()n the rear face of the handle a shell-like ornament 1.0 is located at the head of the handle, and below this, on
the left-hand side, is arranged a headed scroll 1.1. Below this is a compound scroll 12 12, and below this in succession are scrolls 13 .14, the latter extending to the lower end of the handle. 0n the right-hand side and below the ornament 10 are two leaf-scrolls 15 1(3, and below these scrolls a compound scroll 17 is arranged, below which is a scroll 18, which extends to the lower end of the handle.
\Vhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is 1. In adcsign for the ornamentation of the handles of spoons, forks, &e., the shell-like ornament 1, located at the upper end of the handle, and the scrolls 2 l 5 [3 7 8 9, extending upon the face downwardly from said orna- 5o Incnt along the out line of the handle, substantially as described and shown.
2. In a design for the ornamentation of the handles of spoons, forks, &c., the shell-like ornament 10, located at the upper end of the handle, and the scrolls 11 12 1314 15 1U 17 1S, extending, downwardly from said ornament along the outline of the handle, substantially as described and shown.
In a design for the ornamentation of the handles of spoons, forks, &c., the shell-like ornament 1, located at the upper end of the handle upon one of its faces, and the scrolls 2 3 4 5 6 7 T 9, extending upon said face downwardly from said ornament along the outline of the handle, the shelllike ornament 10, located at the upper end of the handle on its opposite face, and the scrolls 11 12 13 14 15 1.0 17 18, extending upon this face downwardly from the ornament 10 along the outline of the handle, substantially as described and shown.
