Description

AU 292 x DESIGN.
H. A. WEIHMAN. CANE 0R UMBRELLA HANDLE.
Patented July 1, 1890.
11 3172 esqe s UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY A. VVEIHMAN, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO SIMONS, BROTHER & 00., OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A CANE OR UMBRELLA HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,991, dated July 1, 1890. Application filed April 16, 1890. Serial No. 348,081. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY A. WEIHMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing in Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Cane or Umbrella Handles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
In the drawing is shown a side elevation of a cane or umbrella handle illustrating my new design.
A represents the body of the handle, which is substantially of uniform diameter until about half-way up to the top, after which it gradually increases in size, swelling to form an enlarged upper rounded portion. The base of the body part is relieved by a rim or annular band D of plain surface. The body part of the handle is ornamented by a series of loops drooping down from one side of the handle, and each of the lower portions of said loops are thicker than the portions farther up. The obliquity of these looped portions also decreases toward the upper part of the handle, and the extreme upper loop has its two ends curled up into a spiral 0, one of which is arranged upon the front of the handle and the other upon the back. The side of the handle in any view is the same as that portion shown.
The handle is made of any suitable material.
Having now described my new design, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for umbrella or cane handles, substantially as herein described and shown.
In testimony of which invention I have hereunto set my hand.
HENRY A. \VEIHMAN. Witnesses:
ERNEST HOWARD HUNTER, A. J. DUNN.
