To all whom it may concern,.-

Be it known that I, FEELING C. FOSTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illi nois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a. Font of Printing-Type, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying stereotype print, forming part thereof.

My design consists of a font of printingtype consisting of large capital letters of old- Style type, the characteristic feature of which is the heavy shaded vertical lines and the light unshaded horizontal lines.

The letters A and H have two light curved crosslines, the former having also a truncated peak. B, P, and R havea light slanting middle joining-line. C, E, F, G, L, S, T, and Z have slanting shade lines or points. In the letters E and F the vertical lines are nneqnally di- 2o vided by the intern'iediate horizontal lines. .I and & have light spiral flourish with terminal dot.

That I claim, and desire to secure by Iletters Patent, is-

The design folr a font of type of capital letters having heavy shaded vertical lines and light unshaded cross-lines at irregular heights and slanting shadelines orpoints,substantially as shown and described. i
