JOHN K. MCIJAUGI-ILIN, OF PHILADELPHIA, ASSIGNOR TO BUCKWALTER & (30., OF ROYERS FORD, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,014, dated January 10, 1888.
Application filed November 19, 1887. Serial No. 255,674. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, JOHN K. MCLAUGHLIN, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Stove, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photos, form ing part thereof.
The leading features of my design for a stove are the top ornament, the pyramidal cap, the ornamental upper portion of the body, the ornamental doors of the body, the ornamental foot-rests, and the ornamental base.
A represents the cap, B the body, 0 the ashpit, and D the base.
On the cap is an ornament consisting of a figure, 1, of a man holding a flag, 2, said figure resting against a pedestal, 3, which is mounted on a convex base, 4. The cap is of the form of a pyramid with alternating convex and concave steps, as at 5. At the corners of the base of the cap are heads a.
The sides of the body at the top have swells 6, with flowers and scroll-work thereon, as at 7. The corners have rosettes 8 and brackets 9, the latter being below said heads a. 0n the body at the sides of the doors are vertical rows 10' of flowers and scrolls. On the same between the doors are horizontal sprays 11 of flowers. ers and vertical bars 13 of flowers and scrollwork. The horizontal bars of the upper doors have horizontal bars 14 of flowers and scrollwork.
The ash-pit door has a border, 15, of flowers and sprays 16 of flowers, which are spread at their ends.
The foot-rests consist of horizontal bars 17 of scrolls and flowers and side scrolls, 18.
The base has rows 19 of scrolls, depending rims 20 of scrolls and flowers, and legs with shells 22 at the corners and scrolls 23 on the face.
The doors have borders 12 of flow:
I claim 1. In a design for a heating-stove, a cap consisting of the representation of a pyramid having alternate convex and concave steps, and having a convex top with the representation thereon of the figure of a man holding a flag and leaning against a pedestal, substantially as shown and described.
2. In a design for a heating-stove, a body portion having on its upper portion ornamental heads a at the corners thereof, brackets 9 beneath said heads, rosettes 8 in the corners, and swells 6 above the dooropenings, and having its borders ornamented with scrolls 10 and representations of flowers, substan= tially as shown and described.
3. In a design for a heating-stove, a bodydoor having its border ornamented with representations of flowers 12, and having its vertical cross-bars consisting of scrolls and flow ers, substantially as shown and described.
4. In a design for a heating-stove, a base having ornaments of horizontal rows 19 of scrolls and depending central rims, 20, of scrolls, substantially as shown and described.
5. The design for a heating-stove, consisting of a top ornament, a pyramidal cap with alternate convex and concave steps, a body with upper portion having the heads a, brackets 9, and ornamented swells 6, flowers 10 at the sides of the doors, the doors having borders of flowers and bars 13 of flowers and scroll-work, foot-rests of horizontal bars of flowers and scroll-work, a base of rows, 19, of scrolls and depending rims 20 of scrolls and flowers, and legs with shells 22 at the corners and scrolls 23 on the face, substantially as shown and described.
