DESIGN FOR A PEDESTAL OR STAND FOR A STATUE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,167, dated July 14,1885.

Application filed May 21, 1585, Term of patent 7 years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, RICHARD M. HUNT, of the city, county, and State of N ew York, have invented a new and original Design for a Ped- 5 estal or Stand, of which the following is a specification.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, which represents a. perspective view of a ped- 10 estal or stand showing my design.

Among the various articles of manufacture for which my new and original design for the pedestals or stands thereof is designed to be applied are pedestals or stands for statues,

I 5 monuments, gas and electric lights, thermometcnholders, clock-cases, cigar-lighters, cigarcntters, lamps, ink stands, paper-weights, bottles, card-receivers, and various other an ticles of manufacture.

The general form or configuration of the pedestal or stand is that 'of a truncated pyramid,the several sides of which are ornamented as follows, and shown in the accompanying drawing: The base a presents a fiat piece, 25 ornamented centrally of its face, with a portion, b, having medallions c c 011 each of its side pillars below its pediment. Abor e this is a molding, 8, having a row of medallion ornaments, d, and above this a castellated border, 6. Next above the castellated border 0 e is a molding, f, having a central panel or nament, g, on asurface representing masonry, above which are pilasters h on a similar surface representing masonry, and above these,

in regular order, an ornamental cornice, 'i, and 35 frieze k, a molding, l, centrally ornamented by 1 a pediment and partial portico, m, and above these a cap-molding, n.

I claim The design for a pedestal or stand, the same 0 presenting a general figure of truncated pyramidal form, ornamented by a base figure, I), representinga portioo, having medallions c c on the side pillars, a molding, s, ornamented by a row of medallions, d, the castellated border e, 5 the molding f, having a panel ornament, g, the pilastcr ornaments h, the cornice i, frieze k, molding Z. pediment and portico ornament m, and the cap-molding n, substantially as herein shown and described.
