daak .6 %4 w UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN s. rnRRY, ANDREW DIOKEY, AND ABSALOM c. WILLIAMS, or
ALBANY, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR STQVE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 7,456, dated May 26, 1814; application filed April 29, 1874. [Term of Patent 7 years.]
CASE A.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, JOHN S. PERRY, AN- nnaw Brown, and ABSALOM O. WILLIAMS, of the city and county of Albany, in the State of New York, have invented a Design for a Stove, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of our design is fully represented in the accompanying photographic illustration, to which reference is made.
A are the legs of the stove, and of oymareversa form, and having a diamond-shaped ornament upon the convex face portion of the leg, subdivided into nine small diamonds, in the center of each of which is a hemisphere. These small diamonds are bounded by a row of contiguous hemispheres. Immediately above this diamond ornament, across the face of the leg, is placed a row of contiguous hemispheres, and immediately above these is a band of Grecian fret. The foot of the legs is ornamented with half-curls, which unite above in a pointed apex centrally between the same. B is the upper portion of the double base. The lower member of this portion is afillet or plain surface nearly vertical, above which is a row of contiguous hemispheres continuing around said section. Above these hemispheres is an arching member, following which is a narrow fillet. Above the same on a flat surface is another row of contiguous hemispheres, extending nearly around this section. Then follows a wider fillet, upon the top of which is anarrow fiat surface. Directly above this and upon an ogee member is a band of Grecian fret. A narrow fillet follows this with a flat member above the same, on which are the letters Perry 85 00., 1873, and"The Argand, 187 3, following which words will be the number of the stove and following this the words Albany, N. J A member somewhat ogee in form upon the top completes this section. D D are the doors and dampers of the ash-pit or base scction, and are, in general form, concave. On their base is a band of Grecian fret, above which is a narrow plain surface surmounted by a row of contiguous hemispheres. The main surface of the doors next above is covered with diamonds, in the center of each of which is a of which is a small hemisphere.
small hemisphere. The top and overlapping ends of these doors are finished with a rounded bead. The openings for the draft are in diamond form, the figures upon the dampers corresponding to those covering the main surface of the doors. The remaining portion, G, of this part of the base-section corresponds with the doors in form, and has upon its base a band of Grecian fret, above which is a narrow plain member surmounted with a row of contiguous hemispheres. The main surface of this section is covered with diamonds, in the center of each A narrow plain member follows, which completes the top, the same being ornamented by aband of Grecian fret. E is the lower ring, the rear portion ofwhich projects out of the circle to conform to the shape of the lines. The lower member of this ring is a fillet surmounted by a row of contiguous hemispheres, and following the same is an arching member, and following this again is a narrow fillet, and the top shoulder of an archin member, above which are placed the words 7 See list of patents on the'bottom. J J are the doors of the section last described,
and formed to correspond with the same. They have each three openings for windows of mica, the frames of which projectfiomthe surface of the doors. These openin s are oblong inform, square at the base, an rounded at the top, and are surrounded by a member somewhat ogee in form, and the whole by a band of Grecian fret. On the base of these frames is a row of contiguous hemispheres, and above the top of same is a row of contignous hemispheres placed in the form of semiellipse, within which is a hemisphere of larger size. K is the upper ring, the members of which are formed like those of the middle ring, and ornamented substantially like the same. L is the upper section of the main body, and is ornamented with a series of vertical flutings between each section of which is a vertica column of contiguous diamonds, in the center of or ch of which is placed a hemisphere. At the base, and also at the top of these ornaments, are continuous scallops, which together form terminuses somewhat like a flour-delta.
lower portion.
Above this latter ornament, on the top of this section, is an ogec member, which connects the series of the lastnamed ornaments. At the base of this section is placed a rounded head to cover the joints. L is the top ring, the base of which is ibrmed of a GOHUHNG member, near the top of which is a band of Grecian fret, and the upper portion of which is formed of an ogee member. the base-section. it is slightly convex in form, with three openings for doors. The overlapping ends and base of the plates tbrming this section are finished with a rounded bead. The rear side portions of said section are formed with panels, surrounded by members somewhat ogee in form, the whole being surrounded by a band of Grecian fret. A diamond ornament similar to that upon the leg is placed in the center of each of these panels. The rear portion of this section is plain, the overlapping end being finished with a rounded bead. G G are mica doors, which correspond inform to the section last named, eachdoor having two openings for the insertion of mica lights, the latter being surrounded by a member somewhat ogee in form, and that again by a band of Grecian fret, outside of which, and forming the outer portion, is an arching mem' ber. H is the middle ring, the rear portion of which projects out of the circle to conform to the shape of the lines, the outer edge of which is in the form of a fillet, and on the top of the same is a row of contiguous hemispheres, the same followed by an arching member, and then a narrow fillet surmounted by a plain flat surface, the whole completed by either a flat or a concave member. I is the upper mica section of cyma form, with a continuous con cave member at its base, and a band of Grecian fret across its surface near the top. The overlapping edges are finished with a rounded bead. The rear portion of this section is projected outward, and has a plain surface, surmounted by a pipe-collar. The base of this rear portion is formed of a concave member, slightly flaring at the top. M is the top of the stove, the outer edge of which is a fillet surmounted by a row of contiguous hemispheres, followed by an arching member, and then a narrow fillet, after which follows an ogee member, with a band of Grecian fret upon the Above this rises another narrow fillet surmounted by a concave member, above which is a row of contiguous hemispheres upon a flat surface. Next follows a narrow fillet, and above this is a broad flat I is the upper portion of surface, upon which the cover slides. N is the cover. its lower outer edge is a Iillct, surmounted by a row of contiguous hemispheres, above which rises an arching member, followed by a narrow fillet, and this again by an ogec men'iber, on the upper portion of which is a band of Grecian fret. Above this a flat surface, and then follows an arching member, sun mounted by a row of contiguous hemispheres, above which is another narrow fillet, followed by a broad. concave member, Slllll'lOllIllZBd by fiat surface, upon which is a row of contiguous hemispheres. Then follows an arching member, upon which a projecting circle is formed to receive the base of the urn. O is an urn resting upon the said cover, the form of which is in the likeness of an antique urn, having near its top a band of Grecian fret. The lower portion of the urn is formed by a double ogee member, between which is a plain stem. 0 is the cover to the urn. Its outside lower edge is a fillet followed by a row of contiguous hemispheres, next above which is a concave member, surmounted by a narrow fiat surface. This is followed by a narrow fillet, and the same by a concave member, on the lower portion of which is a band of Grecian fret. Above this is a narrow flat surface, followed by a narrow fillet, and this by a concave member. The top ornamentis in general form similar to that of the urn. The latter has a handle upon each side, ornamented with curls.
What we claim as our invention is- 1. The form and outline of the parts for a design for a stove, substantially as described and represented.
2. The ornamentation for a design for a stove, substantially as described and representcd.
3. Any one of the plates having the form and outline for a design, substantially as described and represented.
4. The ornamentation as a design for any one of the plates, as represented.
5. The form and outline and ornamentation for a design for a stove, as represented.
