DESIGN FOR A LAMP OR GAS GLOBE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 16,509. dated February 9, 1886.
Application filed June 27, 1885. Serial No. 170,013. Term of patent 7 years.
.To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HARRISON G. MOFAD- DIN, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design fora Gas and Lamp Globe, of which the following i sa full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forminga part of this specification, in which the figure is aperspective view of my newly-designed globe.
The leading feature of my design consistsin the configuration of the flange around the upper edge of the globe, the flange being represented as bent at a number of points outwardly and downwardly, and at a number of other points intermediately of the aforesaid points as being flared outwardly and upwardly.
An additional feature ofmy design consists of a flange of the aforesaid configuration, the same forming open curves at the upper edge of the globe, between the upwardly-bent and downwardly-flared portions.
The body A. of the globe may be spherical in form, contracted at B, from which point the upper edge of the globe is flanged, as shown at G. The flanged portion 0 is bent in this instance at three points outwardly and downwardly, as shown at a a, and at three other points intermediate between the down wardlybent portions to a it is flared outwardly and upwardly, as shown at b b, forming the open curves b b at the upper edge of the globe, and the edge of the flange C is fluted or waved, as shown at c.
I claim- The herein described and shown design for lamp and gas globes, the same consisting of the globe having the spherical body and the flange at the upper edge of said body, which flange is represented as bent at a number of points from the upper edge of the globe-body downwardly and outwardly, and as being flared upwardly and outwardlyJ'orming open curves at the upper edge of the globe intermediately of the aforesaid downwardly and outwardly bent points, said flared and bent portions being scalloped.
