To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUS PEGEL, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of tigurQ hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
A floral group, A, springs from and partly conceals the lower portion of a rectangular field, B, (shown in part at eachend ot' the photograph,) eontainingaground ot'small squares, having centers resembling Greek keys placed diagonally, partiallytraversed by flower sprays from adjacent figures, and bounded by irregular right-lined ornamented borders. To the right of B, and above it, is the rectangular field (3, (shown in part on each side of the photograph,) from the lower portion of which, and covering the same, springs the. flower group D, whose sprays, like those of A, extend into the adjoining figures. C is filled with small orna mental squares, having cross-shaped centers partly traversed by flowersprays from contiguous groups, and is bounded by irregular right-lined borders. To theleft of G, and above it, is the rectangular field E, from whose lower portion, and traversing it, springs the flower group F, which extends its sprays over adjacent figures. E has a ground of diagonal interlocking fillet-work, is partly traversed by sprays from adjacent groups, and terminates in irregular right-lined borders. Below E, and to the left, is the rectangular field G, having a groundwork ofornamen tal squares, with sqna re centers, traversed by sprays from adjacent flower groups and bounded by irregular rightlined borders. From the lower portion of G, and traversing the same, springs the flower group H.
