Description

DESIGN FOR WALL-PAPER.
Design No. 12,516, dated. October 11, 1881.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDUARD LEISSNER, F NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR T0 LEISSNER & LOUIS, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR WALL-PAPER.
Application filed August 25, 1881.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EDUARD Lnissnnn, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Wall-Paper, I f which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for wall-paper and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configr0 uration of parts hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a wallpaper having my new design.
:5 H, J, and L are the principal figures of this wall-paper.
The figure H might be termed an oval rosette, being made with an oval center, open at its ends, and embraced by a border resem- 2o bling tongues of flame. From the upper end of this figure H projects a branch with three fan-like leaves thereon, and near the same is a flower-like figure, h. The figure I resembles the figure 11 very closely. It also has an oval center, open at the upper and lower ends, and has pointed projections resembling tongues of flames, and has an upwardly-projecting stem, 11, with leaves thereon similarto figure H. VVhatever distinction exists between these two figo ures must be found in the central decoration of the inner oval and also in the specific ornamentation of the pointed projections, which in figure H contain each a central dash, while in figure I each is dotted, but substantiallythe two figures are alike.
The figure J has around a central rosette a four-sided border, with rounded corners, and around the same pointed projections resembling those that embrace the figures H and I. Two branches, a a, extend upward from the opposite sides of the figure J, while from the center of said figures proj ects upwardly a stem containing sundry leaves and leaf-like ornamentations.
Term of patent 35 years At each side of the figure J is a figure, M, 5 containing an oval center surrounded by oval beads, which, in turn, are surrounded by an undulating border with branches c, having leaves thereon, projecting from its sides, and with crowning ornamentation s at the top, as shown.
Before the figure J is the figure L, which also has a central oval with some oval beads placed around it, and around thesea main undulating border. Branches r, with leaves thereon, project from the sides of the figure L, and on top is a stem, 0, with leaf-like ornamentatiou. ln'outline there is practically no distinction between the figures L and M, the difierence between these figures, if any, being simply in the details of theinteriorornainen tation, as appears clearly from the photograph, but substantially these two figures are alike.
Smaller bug-like and some leaf-like figures and rosettes surround the more prominent fig ures II, I, J, L, and M, as shown.
I claiin- 1. The design for a wallpaper, consisting of the figure H, substantially as shown.
2. The design for a wall-paper, consisting of thefigure J, having ornaments nandj, substautially as shown.
3. The design fora wall-paper, consisting of the figure L, having ornaments r and 0, sub stantially as shown.
4. The design fora wall-paper, consisting of the figures H I and ornament h, figure L, havornainents r and o, and figure J, having ornalnents a andj, substantially as shown.
