DESIGN FOR A FAN.
Specification forming part of Design No. 11,507, dated November 11, 1879; application filed October 3, 1879. [Term of patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, JAMES MAoDoNoUen, of New York city, county and State of New York, have originated and designed a Fan, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification.
A represents a fan, having the irregular curved face-line B and the irregular back line C. The former may be called an involute line, and the latter the evolute line.
lhe fan, shaped by thejunotion of the lines B and (l at the point D and at the point 6, may be ornamented with a border, as shown in the drawing, and any desired ornamentation may be placed in the upper part of the fan. both back and front, or on one side only, while the space below may contain any desired figure, picture ornamentation, or printed matter.
D is the handle whereby the fan A is actuated.
In coloring the representations and ornamentations suitable colors should be employed to produce a harmonious effect.
As shown, the border may be carried around the entire edge of the fan, both back and front, and also across the face, leaving the triangular space G, in which may be placed a variety of ornamental figures, as desired.
\Vhat I claim as my invention is The design for a fan, consisting of the configuration formed by the junction of the inwzudly-curved edge 0 and outwardly-curved edge B at the points I) and c, substantially as described, and shown in the accompanyingillustration.
