To all whom it mayoonce'rn;

Be it known that I, ALPHONSE'V. BENOIT, of the, city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in the Method of Manufacturing T ySquares and Triangles, of .which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, of which- Figure 1 representstop view'of my improved T- square,'with one. side partially broken off, to show the steelplate in position;

Figure 2 represents side or edge View of same;

Figure 3 represents end view of same; and

Figure 4 representstop view of my improved triangle, stamped out of sheet-leather.

In the drawings- 'a a represent the leather, and

b b, the steel plates inserted therein.

Myimprovement consists in manufacturing T-square blades and triangles of suitably-prepared leather, (a a, figs. 1 and 4,) of suicient thickness for use, (a a, iigs. 2 and 3,) and stii'ened at the edges by introducing steel plates, (b b,'iigs. 1, 2, and 3, of proper width and thickness for rigidity without impairing iiexibility,) into grooves ploughedwin the edges of the leather, (a

a, iig. 3,) to receive them, thes'teel plates (b b, iig. 3,) being bedded therein so as to finish flush with the straight edges of the leather which overlies it at the top and bottom, and to be secured thereto by rivets,
