Description
ymatted" @gante @met @Mira Letters Patent No. 95,280, dated September 28, 1869.
d IMPROVEMENT IN rrznnflvrnAsURE ron subern.
The Schedule referred to in thee-e Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To dill whom tt may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES E. SPAULDING, of
Theresa, in the county of Jefferson, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Feed-Measures; and I do hereby declare that the followingis a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in whichf Figure l is a plan view, and
Figure 2 is a central 'vertical section.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
This invention relates toan improvement in feed measures, whereby they can be readily secured to the floor, to prevent them from being upset while the cattle are feeding from them, and thus prevent the feed from v being wasted; and
The invention consists in providing the bottom of the measure with aflange, which engages with a couple of cleats on the floor, in such manner' that a very secure and cheap fastening is obtained, as hereinafter more fully explained. 1
In the accompanying drawings- A is the bottom of the measure, and
B, the hoop of the same.
C represents the stable floor or other surface, on which the measure is to be placed.v
To the floor C are secured two cleats, D D, for each measure, these cleats having each a slot, d, iig. 2, below its central part, to admit the bottom flange, a a, of the measure.
One side of the ange a a is cut away, as shown at e e, tig. 1.
To fasten the measure to the oor, one side of the flange a is inserted under one of the cleats D, with the latA side, e, of the flange parallel to the opposite cleat.
The measure is then allowed to rest upon the floor, and by turning it partly around, into the position shown in iig. 1, the flange a engages with both of the cleats D, and the measure is fixed in position.
The measure has usually a bale or handle, not shown in the drawing. l
By these. means the measure is secured in a safe and expeditious mannenand all waste of feed by upsetting the measure, as heretofore, is obviated.
Having thus described my invention, .l
What I claim as new, and desire to ,secure by Letters Patent, is-
The anged feed-measure A d B, in connection with cleats D d, D el, substantially as and for the purposel described.
Witnesses: CHAS. E. SPAULDING.
