a device to be used in the operation of washing windows, and for the purpose of holding a bucket or pail with water therein in a convenient position to be reached by the person washing the window, and in such a manner that the bucket or pail will be securely supported yet may be readily removed from the bracket; and it consists in certain peculiarities of the construction, novel arrangement, and operation of the parts thereof, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth and specifically claimed.

The principal object of the invention is to provide a bucket bracket, which shall be simple and inexpensive in construction, strong, c urable and effective in operation, and so made that its parts may be adjusted in order to secure the bracket in position on the sills of windows of different widths or sizes to the end that the bucket or pail will be supported by the bracket outwardly from thewindow sashes and at a convenient position to be reached by the window washer while sitting on the window sill.

Another object of the invention is to. so construct the bracket that it may be readily secured in place on the window sill, or removed therefrom.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be disclosed in the subjoined description and ex lanation.

In order to enab e others skilled in the art to which my invention pertains, to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe it, referring to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a view partly in section and partly in elevation of a portion of a window casing and a part of the wall of a building, showing the sashes removed from the casing and illustratin the bucket bracket in position on the silT and supporting the bucket and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the bracket, showing it detached from the sill.

Like numerals of reference refer to corresponding parts throughout the different views of the drawing.

The reference numeral 5 designates a portion of the wall of a building, which is provided with a window casing 6, of the ordinary or any preferred construction, which, as usual, has a sill 7, the inner portion of which is provided with a horizontal stool 8 and a vertical apron 9, of the construction well known to architects.

Extending longitudinally on the upper surface of the sill 7, and spaced apart, are two parting stops 10, which extend from the ver tical parting stops 11 on one side of the cas ing to those on the other side thereof, and are for the purpose of holding the upper and lower sashes apart.

My improved. bucket bracket consists of a body portion 12, preferably of metal, and rectangular in cross-section, having at one of its ends an upright portion 13, the upper part of which is bent outwardly as at 14 and then downwardly as at 15, and then upwardly and inwardly towards the part 15 to form a hook 16, which is preferably slightly resilient or yielding in order to allow the handle 17 on the bail 18 of the bucket 19 to pass between the closely approximated ortions of the parts 15 and 16, yet to hold it against accidental removal from the hook or loop formed by said parts. The other or inner portion of the body piece 12 is formed with two prongs 20, each of which has a downturned part 21 at its free end, through each of which parts is extended a set-screw 22, on the inner end of each of which is swiveled a head 23 to rest against the surface of the apron 9 of the sash frame, or the surface of the wall of the building within the room.

' Movably mounted on the horizontal portion of the piece 12 is a collar 24, which is rovided with a set-screw 25, and has on its ower portion a projection 26 to engage the parting stops 10 on the upper surface of the window-sill, or when such stops are not used, to engage the outer edge of the sill or other projection. The collar 24 isalso provided on each of its sides with a lateral projection 27, which are adapted to engage the vertical parting stops 11 on either side of the window casing when the same is constructed without the horizontal stops 10, which is sometimes their heads 23 resting against the apron 9 when the same is used, or against the inner surface of the Wall 5 when the apron is omitted. When the bracket is in the abovenamed position, it is apparent that the upright ortion 13 thereof will be located just outsi e of the window casing and that the bucket 19 will be supported on they outturned portion 14 and by means of the hook 16 at a convenient, point for use, and in such a man- 'ner as. to prevent. its accidental dislocation.

The collar 24 is adjusted on the piece 16 and firmly held by means of the set-screw 25 so as to engage one of the horizontal parting stops 10 or if they are not employed, so as to, engage one of the vertical parting stops 11 on one of the sides of the Window casing,

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is

1. As aniln roved article of manufacture,

having prongs at one of its ends provided with downturned parts and an upright portion at its other end provided with an out- Wardly and downturned part having a hook at its free end, a set-screw located in each of the downturned parts of the prongs, and a collar adjustably mounted on the body portion and having means to engage a projection on the Window frame.

2. As an im roved article of manufacture,

a bucket brac et consisting of a body piece having prongs at one of its ends provided with downturned parts and an upright portion at its other end provided with an out Wardly and downturned part having a resilienthook at its free end, a set-screw located in each of the downturned arts of the prongs, and a member adjustab y mounted on the Window frame.
