E. A. PALMER.
- Cheese Curd Rake.
Patented June 23, 1868.

EDWIN A. PALMER, OF GLAYVILLE, NEW YORK.
Letters Patent No. 79,250, dated June 23, 1868; antcdat ecl June 12,1868.
din grlgetult refinish hi it .flgese Ztttitts 33mm amt mating part fli flge snme.
have invented a new and useful Improvement on a Cheese-Curd Rake; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and'exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawings, making a. part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is e perspective view.
Figure 2, a. longitudinal elevation of the head.
Figure 3, a. transversescction:
The shine letters refer to the some parts.
A is the lower head of the rake, thirteen inches long, two inches wide or high, and five-cighths oi an inch thick, except at E, where the handle E passes through, which is one inch thick. v
B B arethe teeth, sixteen in number, fifteen inches long, of galvanized wire one-eighth of on inch in diameter, set in the head at equal distances apart.
G is the upper head or support for the top-of the teeth, which cannot be used without it, on account of the teeth being small and long. It is important that the teeth be long to reach up through the curd.
D D are braces, whichpass through the handle E, and up to the ends of headC, and secured there for the support of the teeth also. i
The, head 0 is thirteen inches long, five-eighths of an inch in diameter. The handle E is'three and a half feet long, one and one-eighth of an inch diameter. I
F F are pins, of wood, in the lower edge of the head A, half an inch long, to keep the headfrom resting on the bottom of the vet. The heads and handles are made of hard wood. The braces are of wire, same as the teeth. 1
The rake is used to raise the curd nfter it is checked. It saves the useof the knife to cut it fine; and also to-stir the cheese-curd while it-is scalding, and being prepared for the press. I
I do not claim any port of the common rake, with short wood or metallic teeth or braces to support the lower head, the samebeing in use, neither any principle involved in the agitator; but
What I claimes my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The upper head 0, and the braces D D, or their equivalent, for the purpose therein described and set forth.
EDWIN A. PALMER.
