IIMPRO'VED TABLE-ATTACHMENT FOR BEDSTEADS.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it ma/y concern:

Be itknown that I, Mrs. E. D. W. HATCH, of Chicago, in the county. of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented a new and improved Table-Attachment for Bedsteads; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art tomake and use the' same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a Vertical longitudinal section of my improved table, as attached vto a bedstead.

Figure 2 is a vertical cross-section of the same.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

My invention has for its object to furnish a simple and convenient table for attachment to bedsteads, lounges, 85e., designed especially for invalids use, which shall be so constructed and arranged that it may be adjusted in height or position as the convenience of those using it m, y require; and

It consists in the table, constructed as hereinafter more fully described, when used in connection with a bedstead, lounge, or other similar support.

A represent-s an ordinary bedstead, about the construction of which there is nothing new.

B is the table, which should be of convenient length and breadth, but which need not be as long as the bedstead is broad.

The table B is formed of two boards, of the same length and breadth, which are adjustably-connected to each other by four jointed arms C, two upon each side, the ends of which are pivoted to the edges ofthe two boards that form the table.

The joint of the arms C is formed by means Yof 'a bolt and thumb-nut, said bolt passing through holes in the clamped in the position into which it may have been adjusted.

By losening the said thumb-nuts, the heightof the table may be conveniently adjusted, as required.

D are the legs of the table, which are made as shown in g. l, and are hinged to the lower side ofthe ends of the lower board ofthe table B, in such a positionv that the lower ends of said legs may rest upon the side rails of the bedstead, or upon bars attached to said side rails.

Upon the lower ends. of two of the legs D are formed tenons, which enter the holes, or sockets a, in the side rails of the bedstead, and the ends of the other two legs D are so formed as to it into the notches a2, formed in the side rails of the bedstead, or in bars attached to said side rails. y

By this construction, the table may be moved toward either end of the bedstead, as the convenience ofthose using the table may require.

Having thus described my invention,

. I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The adjustable table B C D, and sockets and notches al a2, either or both, when constructed substantially as herein shown and described, and used in connection with a bedstead, or similar support, as and for the purpose s'et forth.
