SELDEN sNoW, or s oMERs, CoNNECTiCUT` Y Lene/rs Patent No. 88,921, dated April 13, 1869.
IIPROVEMENT IN FOLDING- MILKING-SEAT.
To all whom it ma/y concern:
Be it known that I, SELDEN' SNOW, of Somers, in the county of Tolland, and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and improved Folding Milking-Seat; and I do hereby declare that the 'following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
This invention rela tes to a useful improvement in seats used in milking cows, whereby they are rendered much more convenient than the seats, or stools cornmonly used for that purpose.
The invention consists in making a bench, or seat, supported on cross-legs, with a shelf in combination therewith, arranged as hereinafter described.
Figure 1 represents a side view of the seat, extended, as when in use, showing the shelf upon which the milking-pail is placed.
Figure 2 shows the same, partiallyvfolded up.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts. 1
A representsthe seat;
B is.the shelf; and
C is the stand by which they are supported.
The seat is hinged to the stand, pas seen at d, and the shelf is hinged to the stand, as seen at E.
The stand G is made of two crosses, and is similar in construction to anI ordinary saw-buck.
When extended, or-in use, as represented in fig. 1,
the seat rests upon the upper ends ofthe stands, a seen at f.
G is a rod which is attached by staples to the under side of the' seat A, and to theshelf, for a'ording addi- -tional support to the shelf. v
h is a rod which extends from one cross of the stand to the other, under the shelf, upon which the shelf rests, as seen in the drawing.'
I represents a handle -attached to the seat A, by-
which .the article ishung up or carried. 4
J is a button, which fastens the shelf down on to the rod h', when the shelf is in use.
By securing the parts together 1n this manner, (by
I jointed connections,) it will be seen that the whole maybe folded together so as to -occupy a very smalll space, as seen in g. 2.
The advantages of this arrangement are that a clean place -is provided for the milking-pail, and, secondly, a clean and propervplae'e is found 'for the milking-stool, or seat, as it may be folded and hung up out of the filth, and out of the way.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A milkingseat, provided with a shelf, arranged in combination with the stand, or support, so as to 'fold up, substantially as shown and described.
SELDEN SNOW.
