Description

PETER SCHOCNMAKER, 0E NEW BRITAIN; CONNECTICUT.
Leners Patent No. 76,82, dated April 14, 186s.
IMPROVED TRACE-CLIP. i
. die. tinhule referrer tu in tigen terters'atent :mh uniting part nf the sante.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CIONCERN:
Be it known that I, PETER SCHODNMAKER, of'New Britain, in the county of'Hartford, and State of Connecticut, have invented a new andimpro'ved Trace-Cli p; and I do hereby declare that 'the followingis a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make'and' use the same, reference being hadto the accompanying plut-e of drawings, and to the letters of' reference marked thereon, forming part of this specification. i'
Figure 1 represents a plan or top view of my invention. o
Figure 2 is a. side elevation of the same.
Figure 3 is an end viewl of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to a new device for securing the hold-back ring to the homes, and consistsin securing the said ring to the trace-clip, and not direct to the llames, as heretofore generally done.-
Generally, the hold-back ring is tted through an eye, formed on the end of a pin, which is screwed or otherwise .fastened in the front edge of the hnmes, between the arms 'of the staple holding the trace-clip., The
'hamesvwere thereby greatly weakened, and generally broke where the said pin was inserted. To overcome this didiculty, I fasten the pin which holds the 'hold-.back ring in a flange, formed on the trace-clip, thereby avoidingthe weakening of the llames. v
A represents the trace-clip. The same is made of metaLof-.the usual form, and is provided witha iange, a, on the outside, said flange projecting from the upper or lower edge of the clip, as may be desired. The clip is secured by means ofthe staple b to the hames B, in the ordinary manner, and as indicated in figs. 2 and 3.
C represents the hold-back ring. The same is fitted through an eye formed on the end of a. pin, c,which is secured or riveted to the flange @formed o'n the clip A, as shown. i
The tracesD are fastened between the jaws of the clip in the ordinary manner, and the hold-back strap E is secured to the ring C, as'shownin iig. 2. i v
Havingthus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. Securing the hold-back ring` to a pin, c, which is fastened in the trace-clip, substantially as herein shown and described. i
2. Providing the trace-clip with a. ange, a, for the reception of the pin to which the hold-back ring is secured, so that the hold-back ring is fastened tothe trace-clip, substantially as herein shown and described.
