CORN HUSKING IMPLEMENT.

' SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 753,639, dated March 1, 1904.

To all whom, it may concern.-

Be it known that I, HERMAN SOHUSTER, a

citizen of the United States, residing at I tion, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in corn-husking implements.

The object of the invention is to provide an implement of this character whereby the husks 'may be quickly cut and torn from the ears.

A further object is to provide a husking implement which will be simple, strong and durable, inexpensive, and well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, as will be more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective View showing the inside of a hand having the invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a similar view of the back of ahand, showing the arrangement of the parts on this side of the hand. Fig. 3 is a central vertical sec tional view through the device.

In the embodiment of the'invention I provide a wide strap or band 1, which is adapted to be buckled around the wrist of the user, preferably by securing to one end of the strap two-buckles 2, which are adapted to be engaged by the opposite bifurcated end 3 of the strap. The upper edge of the inner side of the strap is curved upwardly or projects slightly over the palm of the hand, as shown. On this inner portion of the strap or band 1 is riveted or otherwisesecured a metallic channel-shaped plate 4:, in the side flanges or walls of which are formed a series of teeth 5, here shown as constructed by forming V-shaped notches in said side pieces. The plate4: is secured onthe strap, so that the inner end of the same projects slightly beyond the inner edge of the same, as shown.

On the back of the wristband or strap 1 is secured two buckles 6, to which is secured the inner bifurcated end of a strap 7, which extends forwardly along the back of the hand and the second and third fingers to near the end of said fingers, where said strap is secured to a loop or band 8, which passes around the fingers and holds this end of the strap in place.

'On the end of the strap 7 over its connection with the loop 8 is riveted or otherwise secured a plate 9, on which is formed a pointed triangularly-shaped hook 10.

By the use of a husking device as herein described the husks may be quickly and easily removed from the ears without injury to the hand of the husker.

. From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction-and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.

Various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.

Having thus described my invention, whatI claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A corn-husking implement, comprising a wristband, a channel-shaped plate secured to the inner side of said band, V-shaped notches arranged in the side of said plate to form teeth, a strap removably secured to the back of said wristband and extending forwardly over the back of the hand, a plate secured to said strap, a pointed triangularly-shaped hook formed on said plate, and a loop or band secured to the end of said strap to engage the fingers of the hand and hold said strap and hook in place, substantially as described.
