Be it known that I, T. W. KENNEDY, of Avon, in the county of'Fulton, and State of Illinois,have invented. a new and improved Hand-Truck for Moving Barrels; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in Which Figure 1 represents my improved truck for moving a barrel in an upright position, as shown in red.

This invention relates to a new and useful improvement in the construction of a hand-truck for moving barrels about from place to place in an upright positions 7 The improvement consists in connecting with the handles of the truck jointed hooks or grapples, for catching over the chine of a barrel, to hold it steadily in an upright position on atruclgwhenmoverL A represents the body of a hand-truck mounted on rollers at the lower end, and in general construction similar to an ordinary hand-truck, with a curved form to fit a barrel lengthwise, and a. foot-piece, a, toliftand support the lower end of a. barrel. On the upper end of the truck are fastened standards 6 b, on the rear side to the side rails c c, on the ends of which standards are pin-jointed bent-lever handles dd, connected by a crossbrace,-e, at the outer ends of the long arms of the levers. Hooks or grapples It h are connected with theshort arms of the levers d 01, working on a pin in slotsin the arms, and pivoted on the upper ends of the side rails c c of the truck. When a barrel is taken upon the truck, the hooks h h catch over the chine of the barrel, and hold fast hybearing upon the lever-handles d d, as shown in the drawing, and thus a barrel nnaj bemoved about in an upright position, and carried around a counter, and to places not accessible with ordinary ,-trucks.
