UNITED STATES PATENT- OFFICE.
LEON LEMOS OF. SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
PIN-FASTENER FOR SHOW-CARDS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 694,063, dated February 25, 1902. Application filed July 26, 1901. $erial No. 69,755. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEON LEMOS, residing in the city and county of San'Francisco, State of California, have invented an Improvement in Pin-Fasteners for Show-Cards and I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same.
My invention relates to a pin adjustment which is especially designed for. attaching show-cards or price-lists to goods and for other like purposes.
It consists of a hook-shaped pin having a peculiarly-constructed base and an extended shank and a flexible fasten er connected there with, whereby the hook is rigidly attached to the show-card.
My invention also comprises details of construction, which will be more fully explained by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 shows the fastener attached to the back of a card. Fig. 2 shows the reverse side of the fastener, the latter being detached from the card.
Flexible attachments or hinged links or hooks have been attached to show-cards, calendars, and similar papers for the purpose of hanging them. These flexible attachments are not suitable for price and similar cards which are attached to goods upon exhibition in windows and under similar conditions.
It isthe object of my invention to provide a means for rigidly attaching such cards to the goods, said means consisting of apin fixed to the card.
As shown in the accompanying drawings, A is the card.
2 is the pin, formed of a piece of steel or other wire and bent into a hook form,as shown. At the base of this pin the wire is bent to form a transverse loop, as at 3, and from the center of this loop the wire is extended downwardly at right angles with the loop to form a shank or extension 4:. This extension is flattened, the flat side being so disposed that it will lie closely against the face of the card, and this, together with the transverse loop,
prevents the hook from turning, but keeps it projecting rigidly away from the face of the card when attached thereto.
In order to attach this device to the card,
I have shown an adhesive disk or strip of flexi- 1 loop and bent down over it, so as to prevent the hook and shank from being pulled away from its fastening.
This device maybe attached to the back of the card at any desired point, leaving the front and its inscriptions fully exposed, and
being rigid with the card it is easily hooked upon any piece of goods, where it is readily seen.
Having thus described my invention, what Iclaim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. An attachment for cards and the like, consisting of a hook-shaped pin having a transverse 100p formed at the base, and integral with it, a flattened integral extension at right angles with the loop and means for securing it rigidly to the card.
2. An attachment for cards and the like consisting of a pin having a transverse loop formed at the base and integral with it, a fiat-.
tened continuation at right angles, and below the loop, andan adhesive disk adapted to be pasted over the loop and its continuation.
3. A combination with a card or the like of a hook-shaped pin having a transverse loop and a flattened continuation below the loop in line with the shank of the pin, and aflexible adhesive disk adapted to fit over the flattened continuation to secure it to the card, said disk havinga tongue passing through and securing the loop.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
LEON LEMOS.
