Description

Patented May 7, IQOI, I. A. MARGESSUN.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ISABEL AUGUSTA MARGESSON, OF WORCESTER, ENGLAND.
APRON-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 673,404, dated May 7, 1901. Application filed March 1, 1901. Serial No. 9,407. (N0 model.)
To (LZZ whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, ISABEL AUGUSTA MAR- GESSON, a subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, and a resident of Lower Wick House,Worcester, in the county of Worcester, England, have invented a certain new or Improved Apron-Fastener, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has for its object a device of simple character by the aid of which the waistband and shoulder-straps of an apron may be easily secured in position. Such device I construct of a buckle of ordinary form, to which are secured two spring-clips,each end of which forms, with the surface of the buckle, a clip. Such buckle is employed to secure the waistband of an apron, and the springclip or clips secure the shoulder-straps and so permit of the whole being held in a neat and simple manner. A device so constructed is shown in the accompanying drawings, and this form of my invention will be better understood with reference thereto.
Of the drawings, Figure 1 is afront or outside view, and Fig. 2 a back or inside view, of the fastening.
The device, as shown, consists of two plates a a, fitted at the back or inside with eccentric clips I) to enable them to be secured to the end of an apron-waistband and provided with a hook c and eye 61, respectively, whereby they may be hooked together. These plates have formed in one with them or attached thereto spring-plates e, under which the ends of the shoulder-straps of an apron may be forced and so held after the plates have been secured to the ends of the waistband and hooked together. These plates may also be used separately, so as to allow of the waistband being tied in a how, if preferred.
When desired, the device may be formed of a single plate or frame similarly to an ordinary buckle, but provided with the springclips to receive the ends of the shoulderstraps of an apron. In the place of the springclip I may use, if desired, hooks, buttons, studs, or the like, but so that they form a part of the plate or buckle.
What I claim is- A combined waistband and shoulder-strap fastener for aprons comprising two plates having hook-and-eye connections, clips on the backs of said plates for securing the ends of the waistband, and spring-tongues carried by the edges and extending diagonally across the front face of the plates, said tongues inclining in opposite directions, substantially as described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two witnesses.
