IMPROVEMENT IN FENCE.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CON OERN Beit known that I, WILLIAM A. MIDDLETON, of Harrisburg, in the county of Dauphin, and in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvlement in Fences; and do hereby declare that the following is a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and
'to the letters of reference marked thereon.
In the annexed drawings, making part of this specification A A represent a series of cross-sills which are placed beneath the overlapping ends of the rails. B B represent the rails. D represents straps of nietal which pass over the tops of the rails and have their ends secured to the sills A A. G represents a bolt which passes up through the sill and through the ends of the rails and strap, being provided with a nut on its upper end. By means of the bolt C the rails and sills and straps are confined securely together, and a joint is formed at each panel end, whereby the direction of the fence can be changed at will. This arrangement of parts makes a. very secure and permanent fence,aud one which is portable and easily adjusted to suit the wants of the farmer or owner.
Having thus' fully described my invention, what'l claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is The headed bolts C C, passing through the fence panels and top of the metal straps D, when said strapsa.re passed from the sill over the top of the fence, and there secured by the nut, in the manner and for the purposes specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand this 27th day of May, 1887.
