NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM HENRY GRAEBNER, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
CUFF-HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 661,692, dated November 13, 1900.
Application filed December 22, 1899. Renewed September Z6 1900. Serial No. 31,135. (No model.)
To aZZ whmn it may concern:
Be it known that LWILLIAM HENRY GRAEB- NER, acitizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented new and usef UlIIIIpIOVGIlIGIJESlH Ouff-Holders,of which the following is a'specification.
My invention relates to improvements in cuff-holders.
The object of my invention is to provide a form of holder which will not soil the exterior surface of the cuff and which can be easily and quickly adjusted in position, various adjustments being provided for.
In the following description reference is bad to the accompanying drawings, inwhich Figure l is a plan view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a side view of the clasp. Fig. 3 is a view of a sleeve and cuff, showing my invention as it is applied thereto.
Like parts are identified by the same reference-letters throughout the several views.
The strip of leather or other flexible mate rial A is adapted to be secured to the sleeve of the wearer and is provided with a series of eyelets B, preferably metallic. A spring-actuated clasp O is provided with a stud D,- adapted to engage in the eyelets B of the strip A, and from this clasp O the cuff is supported by means of a twisted-wire shank E, in which a button F is interlaced near one end. The button is adapted to engage in the buttonhole of the cuff, as shown in Fig. 3, and the wire projects for a short distance beyond the button, so that the end of the wire will not slip through the buttonhole.
It will be observed in Fig. 1 that one end G of the wire E is passed through the clasp C on its pivotal axis and headed, so as to form the pivot or pin therefor. The other end H of the wire E is coiled transversely around the pivot-pin G, so as to form a bearing to prevent the longitudinal movement of the clasp C.
The strip A is fastened to the sleeve of the user, preferably along one side, as indicated in Fig. 3. The button F is inserted through the buttonhole of the cuff from beneath, and
the clasp is then adjusted with the stud D engaging in any desired eyelet of the strip A.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
'1. A cuif-holder, comprising a twisted-wi re shank; abutton interlaced therein near one end; and a suitable clasp secured to the other end of said shank, and adapted to engage at one or more points of support on the sleeve of the user, substantially for the purpose setforth.
2. A cuif-holder, comprising a twisted-wire shank; a button interlaced therein near one end; and a spring-actuated clasp having one end of said wire extended therefrom to form a pivotal axis, substantially for the purpose set forth.
3. A cuif-holder, comprising a twisted-wire shank; a button interlaced therein near one end; a spring-actuated clasp secured to the other end of said shank and provided with a stud on the interior surface of one of the clamping-jaws; and a strip of flexible material provided with eyelets for the reception of said stud, and adapted to be secured to the sleeve of the user, substantially for the purpose set forth.
4. A cuff-holder, comprising a shank provided near one end with means for engaging the buttonhole of a 'cufi; a spring-actuated clasp secured to the other end of said shank ina laterally-projecting position, and provided with studs on the interior surface of one of its clamping-jaws; and a supportingstrip of flexible material extending in a line substantially parallel to that of the shank, and provided with eyelets in which said stud is adapted to engage, substantially for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof [affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
w. HENRY GRAEBNER.
