To all tri/"1,0711, it may concern:

Be it known that I, MARTIN RILEY, of the city of Washington, District of Columbia, have invented new and valuable Improvements in Windows; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of said invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same.-

This invention relates to window-screens, and has for its object to provide a simple, durable, and comparatively inexpensive device adapted to act as a screen, an awning, and a shade or curtain; and it consists in the parts and combinations of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a vertical section through a window-frame provided with my improved screen; Fig. 2, a similar view showing the screen in the position in which it is arranged when used as an awning,

and Fig. 3 a detail View showing the arrangement of the curtain ou the screen-frame.

Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout all the views.

Referring to the drawings, A represents a window-frame provided with the usual or any desired form of sash. To the top of the frame A is hinged the frame of a screen B, so that the same may open or swing outward, as shown in Fig. 2. The hinges are made in two parts, one of which, the hook-plate c, being secured to the screen-frame and the other, the bar-plate d, being secured to the Windowframe, whereby the screen may be quickly removed. from the window when desired.

The cur tain may be provided with screw eyes f, adapted to catch in hooks g in the screenframe to hold the curtain in position, or the cord may be knotted to the screw-eye e and the same object attained.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The combination of a window-screen hinged at its upper end to the window-frame, a curtain or shade mounted on the inside of the screen-frame and adapted for adjustment parallel with and to cover the screen, and means for holding said screen-frame at an angle to the window.
