TRUNDLE-HOOP.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 602,258, dated April 12, 1898. Application filed October 30, 1897. Serial No. 656,890. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CARL HAUPT, a subject of the Czar of Russia, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trundle-Hoops, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to toy hoops; and the object is to provide a toy hoop with means whereby it may be propelled or trundled so that it can be easily controlled and at the same time prevented from upsetting.

The invention consists, first, of a trundlehoop having eyesupon its circumference, said eyes being arranged in pairs at diametrically opposite sides thereof, and cross-strings secured to said eyes and crossing each other at right angles near the center of the hoop, and, secondly, of the combination,wi th a trundlingstick provided with a grooved end, of a trundle-hoop having eyes upon its circumference,

said eyes being arranged in pairs at diamet-,

rically opposite sides of the hoop, and cross strings secured to said eyes and adapted to spring laterally and be overlapped at the center, so as to hug the grooved end of the trundling-stick.

Referring to the drawings, Figure l is an elevation of a toy wheel, showingthe arrangement of the cross-strings when not in use.

Referring to the drawings, A represents the toy hoop, which may be of any ordinary or preferred construction. Upon the inner side of the rim of the hoop is provided a series of eyes a, preferably four, arranged in pairs at diametrically opposite sides of the hoop and about ninety degrees apart. Gross-strings a are secured at eachend to the eyes a and are arranged in two parallel lines which cross each other at the center of the hoop, one pair of the cross-strings preferably extending at right angles to the other pair, as shown in the grooved end of the stick inserted in the.

double loop thus formed, as shown in Fig. 2, whereby the strings are caused to bind closely around the said grooved end. When thus arranged, the hoop may be easily trundled and can be readily controlled without danger of the hoop falling or getting away from the person trundling the same, thus affording apleasant and healthful form of recreation.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A trundle-hoop, having eyes on the circumference of the same, said eyes being arranged in'pairs at diametrically opposite sides thereof, and cross-strings secured to said eyes and crossing each other at right angles near the center of the hoop, substantially as set forth.
