SASH-CORD .FASTENER.
SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 515,186, dated February 20, 1894.

is secured in the sash and the means for securing the cord or chain thereto.
My object is to produce a sash chain fastener, cheap in construction, positive in its operation,durab1e and of great utility and to that end my invention consists in the several new and novel combination of parts hereinafter described and specifically set forth in the claims hereunto annexed. It is constructed as follows, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure L is an edge view of a window sash, provided with my attachment, and having a sash chain Secured thereto. Fig. 2, is a side view of the sash and casing; the sash being broken away to show the position of the de- Vice in use. Fig. 3, is a view of the fastener and chain attached. Fig. 4, is a view of the parts, detached.
A, is the sash provided with a circular or semi-circular Opening --a-- in its edge and leading therefrom,vertically,is a groove -b the said sash being adapted to travel in the casing -B- in the ordinary Way.
C, is a semi-circular bracket constructed substantially as shown, having a base or disk -cand a fiange dextending at substantially right angles thereto, and having its ends -e extending inwardly as shown. The disk or base -cand the fiange -dare perforated as shown at -ffor the purpose of receiving the link of the chain, or the end of the cord, as desired.
^ g, is a curved piece of wire or metal adapted to be passed through the link or secured to the chain after it has passed through the perforation --f and is adapted to rest within the bracket, having its ends abut against the inner faces of the ends` of the fiange --d--.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The herein described bracket for a sash chain fastener comprising a base, a fiange extendingtherefrom said fiange having inwardly extending ends and said base and fiange being perforated at a point of intersection.
2. The herein described sash chain fastener eoinprising a bracket consisting of a base, a fiange extending therefrom, said fiange having inwardly extending ends, said base and fiange being perforated at a point of intersection, and a curved piece of metal adapted to rest upon said base and having its ends abut against the inwardly extending ends of the fiange. t,
