Definitions
- the D D represent two parallel plates connected by the pin cl, which inclose the handles and jaws at their fulcrums.
- the lever-handles A A are pivoted between the two plates D D by the pin 0 and are connected with the jaws by the pairs of connecting links or plates E E, which are pivoted to the handles and to the shanks of thejaws.
- the jaws are pivoted between the plates D D by the pin b, which passes through the plates and jaws.
- the jaw B is a thin curved cutting-blade, the line of the cutting-edge being convex in shape and terminating at its outer end in a sharp point, as shown in the drawing.
- the inner or gripping edge of the jaw O is concave in shape, and the gripping-face F is slightly beveled, the bevel falling away from the cutting-surface.

IMPLEMENT FOR DEHORNING CATTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 417,790, dated December 24, 1889.
Application filed May 9, 1889. Serial No. 310,139. (No model.)
'is strengthened and the cutting-power increased, my invention consisting in the combination of parts and details of construction hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawing, the figure is a perspective view of the implement.
Similar letters refer to similar parts.
D D represent two parallel plates connected by the pin cl, which inclose the handles and jaws at their fulcrums. The lever-handles A A are pivoted between the two plates D D by the pin 0 and are connected with the jaws by the pairs of connecting links or plates E E, which are pivoted to the handles and to the shanks of thejaws. The jaws are pivoted between the plates D D by the pin b, which passes through the plates and jaws. The jaw B is a thin curved cutting-blade, the line of the cutting-edge being convex in shape and terminating at its outer end in a sharp point, as shown in the drawing. The inner or gripping edge of the jaw O is concave in shape, and the gripping-face F is slightly beveled, the bevel falling away from the cutting-surface.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the plates D D, connected by the pin (1, the handles A A, pivoted between said plates D D, the connecting-links E E, pivoted to the handles and to the shanks of the jaws, and the cutting-jaw B and beveled gripping-j aw C, pivoted together between said plates D D, as and for the purposes specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
