To all who/12, it may concern.-

Be it known that I, HENRY C. HALL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have in vented certain new and useful Improve ments in ash-Boards; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this S1J60ifi0t13l011,2t11(l to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure 1 is a View showing a wash-board properly attached to a wash-tub and part of the tub broken away. Fig. 2 aview of the edge 01": a wash-board, showing the different part-s in proper position to be attacl'ieifl to a wash-tub. Fig. 3 is a View of the back of a Wash-board, showing parts folded.

The present invention has relation to washboards; and it consists in the diiterent parts and combinations of parts hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures ot the drawings.

In the accompanying drawings, A represents the sides of the wash-board proper, and are substantially ot' the form in the drawings. To these side pieces, A, are attached, in the ordinar manner the wash-board B and the back 7 C. If desired, the wasl'i-board B may be formed slightly con caved, as illustrated in the f drawings; but I do not desire to be limited to I this construction, as a perfectly straight board will answer the same purpose. To the side pieces, A, are pivotally attached the hoops to, and are so adjusted that they will embrace the top or upper edge of the tub D, as illustrated in Fig. 1, and are for the purpose of holding the wash-board proper to the tub. To the back of the wash-board. proper is pivotally attached the brace b by means of the bearings e, or their equivalents. is formed of metal, and is of sufficient size and strength to properly hold the wash board in the position shown in Fig. -I. To the back and upper portion. of the back 0 is pivotally attached the link E, which may be substantially of the form shown, and is provided at its bottom or lower end with the eye 61, which is for the purpose of securing and holding the brace l) in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2. metal, and is so adjusted that its inner faces will nearly meet, therebylocking the brace b in the eye (I.

The side pieces, A, only extend to the bottom or lower end of the wash-board B, thus leaving the tub clear of obstruction.

It will be seen that by pivotally attaching the different parts to the wash-board proper they can be folded out of the way when the board is not in use or for shipment. It will be seen that by forming the washing-surface of the board 13 concaved it will better retain or hold water.

Having now fully described my invention, what I claim. as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
