SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 385,704, dated July 10, 1888.

Be it known that I, HENRY D. GARDY, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Northeast, in the county of Cecil and 5 State of Maryland, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Hoops,'of which the following is a specification, reference being had ther in to the accompanying drawings.

My invention pertains to an improvement in toy hoops; and it consists in the peculiar construction, combination, and arrangement of the parts, substantially as hereinafter more fully shown, described, and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention. Figs. 2, 3, and 4 are detail views thereof, and F g. 5 is a front elevation.

In the construction of my toy hoop I centrally dispose therein hub A, having radiating therefrom, as usual in vehicle-wheels, spokes B, secured to the inner periphery of the hoop in any ordinary manner.

Hub A is provided with axle b, which projects through the two corresponding horizontal arms 0, thus forming a platform for the support of the horse, whose hind foot is ninged thereto, as shown.

Hub A has secured thereto,on one side there of, the circular band B, which band, being larger than the hub, when the hub is revolved rotates in an orbiteccentric to the hub and carries with it wire B, which is secured to the 5 figure, (a horse and its rider,) and thus it causes the same to bob up and down with the rotation of the wheel in a lite-like manner.

The horizontal arms 0, between which are disposed the hub and the periphery of the wheel, are secured in the rear by thumb-screw 0 D, which is also projected through a coincident aperture in the handle 9, and said arms are connected in front, as shown. The boltD is passed through slots (1 cl, formed in the side arms, 0, whereby the end of the handle can be secured at the desired point. The handle 9 thus arranged may be readily adjusted to any angle to suit the height or convenience of the child engaged in rolling the hoop.

I do not confine myself to any particular figure-as a horse and its rideras the toy may be made equally amusing with many other figures.

I claim as my invention- 1. In a toy hoop, the arms forming a platform for the figure and having a handle ad justably connected thereto, substantially as shown and described.

2. In a toy. the combination, with the platform-arms having slots therein, 01' the handle, and the nutted bolt for adji'lstably securing said handle between said arms, substantially as shown and described.
