SPRING CLOTHES-PIN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 356,127, dated January 18, 1887.
Application filed October 1, 1885 have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spring Clothes-Pins; and I (lo-declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, suchas will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to theletters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in clothes-pins; and the objects of my improve ment are to provide a simple, durable, and adjustable clothes-pin. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view of the whole clothes-pin, showing the spring A, the arms B B, the fulcrum 0, upon which the arms articulate without being pivoted and rock upon each other in opening and closing the clothes-pin, the points where the spring A passes through'the slotsF F, and the points G G, wherethe ends Serial No, 178.758. (N0 model.)

The clothes-pin is opened by pressing on the ends of the arms B B at the end E, and closed by the pressure of the spring A at the points G G.
WVhat I desire to secure by Letters Patent 1s The combination of the arms B B, slotted at one end and having projections formed on the inner sides of them that meet to form a fulcrum, O, with the spring A passed through the slots and with its ends resting upon the sides of the pin between the fulcrum and the clamping end of the pin, substantially as described, and for the uses and purposes herein set forth.
