DOOR-SECURER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 366,843, dated July 19, 1887.
Application filed May 5, 1887. Serial No. 237,240.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LoUIs H. JONES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Door-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in door-fasteners, as set forth in the following specification and claim, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a'perspeetive view showing the fastener applied to a door. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the fastener.

In the drawings, the letter A designates a partition, and B is a door. 0 is the cap of the lock, and D is the lock. E is a hook rising from a base-plate, F. To the plate F is secured a chain, G, provided with a hook, H.
The hook E is adapted to be placed into engagement with the cap 0, as shown in Fig. 1. The door A is then closed, whereby the hook E is held in the cap 0. The chain G is then passed about the spindle of the knob I, and the hook H is placed into engagement with one of the links of the chain G. By such arrangement of the fastening device the door is prevented from being opened from the side op- (No model.)

Heretofore a door-fastener has been composed of a plate having two flanges to receive between them the keeper of a lock, said plate also having between the flanges a recess, in which slides a wedge-shaped bolt at right angles to the plate in front of the keeper, and retained by a wire secured to the bolt and extending across the end of the plate. In an other instance a door-check has been composed of a chain having a weight at one end movable vertically in a case having a mouthpiece for the passage of the chain, and a knob at the other end of the chain adapted to engage a catch on the door. Such, therefore, I do not claim.
\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination, with a hook, E, having a base, E, ofa chain, G, and another hook, II, substantially as set forth.
