Be it known that we, JOHN ROBINsON and WILLIAM J. RoBINsON, citizens of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Basin Attachments to Bath-Tubs, which improvement is fully setforth in the following specification and accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a side elevation of. a basin attachment to a bath-tub embodying our invention and a longitudinal vertical section of the tub. Fig. 2 is an end view of the attachment and transverse vertical section of the tub. Fig. 3 is a bottom View of the attachment.

Our invention consists of a basin having means whereby it may be attached to a bathtub, firmly supported in position, readily overturned and restored, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.

Referring to the drawings, A represents a bath-tub of well-known form.

B represents ears or hooks, which aresecured to the inner face of the tub adjacent to the faucets thereof, and 0 represents a wash-basin, which is provided with upwardly-projecting links or eyes D, attachable to the ears B. One part of the side of the basin is made right-lined, so as to be parallel with the contiguous face of the tub and rest fiat thereagainst, and the under side of the basin has secured to or formed with it a foot, E, which extends laterally so as to abut' against the face of the tub. It will be seen that the basin depends from the ears B,and is held in upright position by thefoot E, being thereby firmly sustained. The basin may be supplied with Water from faucets and used similarly to other basins, it being seen that the basin retains its position and is not liable to upset, and the drippings and splashings thereof drop into the tub,from whence they escape through the usual pipe. When service of the basin is no longer required,iit is raised, and as it moves on the eyes B as an axis it is overturned, so that the wateris discharged, the same dropping into the tub and passing out basin is then lowered and resumes its normal position,ready for further service. When the bath-tub is to be used, the water is turned on and may overflow from the basin; or the lat-' ter may be raised to permit the water to drop directly in the tub, or entirely removed, the ears B being open to permit the disconnecting of the links or eyes D, which, as is evident, may be of the form of hooks or loops,as desired. If desired, the ears may be attached to one of the sides of the tub instead of the end, in which case the basin is located at said side, and while it is not supplied with water directly from the faucet or faucets its utility is not different from that previously stated, and for a bath-tub not provided with a faucet or faucets the attachment of the basin may be at the' ends or sides of the tub,as desired.
