L. 0. F. PREES.
NEGKTIE. No. 269,658. Patented Dec.26, 1882.
.dttbrncys UMTED STATES P TENT Di alent LOUIS O. F. FR-EES, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
NEICKTIE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No, 269,658, dated December 26, 188?,
Application filed May 17, 1882. (No model.)
To all tchom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Lo'urs G. F.-FREES, of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, haveinvented certain new and useful Improvements in Neckties; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled. in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, and in which-- Figure 1 is a perspective view of one of my improved neckties or bows, showingin dotted lines several dili'erent positions of the hook which forms the subject-matter of my invention; and Fig. 2 is a detail view of the hook detached from the bow.
Like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.
Myinvention has relation to that particular class of mens neckwear known in the trade as band-hows, intended to be worn with standing collars; and it consists in providing the how with a permanent wire book of peculiar construction, which forms part of the article, and is adapted to catch under the lower rim of the front part of the standing collar, so as to prevent the neckwear from working up over the collar, substantially as hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter A designates the bow, and B the band, which passes around the standing collar, and after being passed through the loop b of the bow is fastened in the bow (on the inside.) by a pin, 0. The hook or catch is shown at D I), from which it will be seen that it consists of apiece of wire doubled upon itself, and then bent or I sition it is prevented from turning sidewise by I the eyes or enlargements a a. By slipping the upwardly-projecting catch 1) under the collar between the neckband of the shirt and the front part of the collar, it will be seen that said part D will effectually prevent the bow from working up upon the collar, so that the bow and band will always maintain their proper relative position to this.
I am aware that so-ca-lled necktie-fastenings have been constructed before in which a wire yoke clasps the collar-bntton,as shown in the patent to P. S. White, N0.97,33l, of November 30, 1869; but I do not claim the construction of a clasp or fastening as therein shown.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent ot' the United States, is
The improved band-bow composed of the neckband B, bow A, loop-band B, slitted at 0, pin C,and collar-catchDD,constrncted and combined substantially as and for the purpose herein shown and set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereunto aliixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LOUIS" CHARLES FREDERIK FREES.
