UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ISAAC NOAH, on NEW YORK, N. Y.
NECKTI E-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 254,362, dated February 28, 1882.
Application filed December-31, 1881. tNomodel.) I
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ISAAC N OAR, a citizen of the United States, resident of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Neckties; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a representation of a front View of my invention. Fig. 2 is a rear View. Fig.3is a sectional view, and Figs. 4 and 5 are detail views.
This invention has relation to fastenings for breast-scarfs and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the pin for the neckband and the collar-button attachment,
said pin and attachment being connected for use in the same scarf, all as hereinafter set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, the lettera 2 5 designates the shield of the breast-scarf, being the stifl'ener or filling-piece usually covered with cloth and designed to come in front of the collar-button when the scarf is properly arranged.
b is an ordinary two-prong tag-fastening, which is passed through the shield and the elastic c of the collar-button loop or attachment d.
The pin 0 is formed with a coil, z, at its upper end in the plane of the pin, and through 5 this coil the prongs or attachment ends of the fastening b are passed and then turned down against the shield, so as to hold the pin securely. The ends of the prongs g are usually inserted into the shield after beingturned down, and in this manner serve to hold the pin in the oblique position required for use in attaching the end of the neckband.
The object of this double fastening'is to pro vide means for holding the scarf and its neckband in position in'such a manner that the scarf will not fall and expose the collar-button.
Having described this invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
The combination, in a breast-scarf fastenin g, with the collar-button loop at and its elastic, of the tag-fastening b and the coil-headed pin 6, substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
ISAAC NOAR.
