OIL-CAN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 253,146, dated January 31, 1882. Application filed July 25, 1881. (Modch) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OHARLEs B. WILsoN, of Orange, in the county of Orange and State of Texas, have invented an Improved Oil-(Jan, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved oil-can, which is so constructed that the flow of oil can be regulated very conveniently.
The invention consistsin an oil-can provided with a hollow or tubular handle, having an airvent closed by a removable cap. In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of my improved oil-can. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The oil-can A, which may have any desired shape, is provided with a- .handle, B, containing a tube, 0, extending from the lower part of the can up through the handle, and projecting from the top of the same. The upper end of this tube 0 is closed by a removable cap, D.
This cap may be of rubber and constructed to fit tightly over an enlargement on the end of tube 0.
If desired, the handle may be made hollow, and a short tube may project from the top of the same, and the cap D placed on the top of this short tube.
The can A is screw-nozzle, E.
If the cap D is removed from the end ofthe tube 0, the air can enter into this tube 0, and the oilean flowfrom thenozzle E. Ifthe flow of oil is to beinterru 'ited, the thumb can be placed over or on the end of the tube (J very conveniently.
This can does not require a spring-bottom, like the ordinary oil -can. This can can be used for oil or other liquids.
Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with the oil-can A, of the handle B, the air-tube 0, and the cap D, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
CHARLES BENNETT WILSON.
