GLOVE PASTENER.
Patented Dec. 27,1881.

IO fastened with my device. Fig. 2 is a detail 20 ters of reference indicatelike parts of the in- UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM D. THOMPSON, OF LITTLETON, NEW HAMPSHIRE, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO IRA PARKER, OF SAME PLACE, AND GEORGE M. GLAZIEB,
OF CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS.
G LOV-E-FASTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 251,655, dated December 27, 1881. Application filed November 17, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, W. D. THOMPSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Littleton,
in the county of Grafton and State of New 5 Ham pshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Glove-Fasteners, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 is a view of a glove as it appears showing the position of the spring-loop when about to be unfastened, and Fig. 3 is a sectional detail.
This invention has relation to fastenings for I 5 gloves and the like; and the novelty consists in the construction of the spring link or loop,
as will be hereinafter more fully set forth, and particularly pointed out in th'eclaim.
In the accompanying drawings similar letvention.
A is a glove of ordinary form, having the usual flaps, B and C. To the flap C is riveted a staple, D, provided with a burr or washer, d. 2 5 A spring-wire loop or link, E,is passed through the staple D and its ends secured in the enlarged handle F. E yelets G are secured to the opposite flap, through which the handle and link pass when the glove is to be fastened.
The link E is bent inwardly about its center at the point e, so as to require some little force in pushing the staple D into the opening 6, as shown in Fig.1. In its normal position, when the glove is unfastened, the staple D is in the opening e 7 5 In fastening the glove the handle or ball F is passed through the eyelet G and the link forced backward so as to bring the staple D into the opening 0 in the link E. In this position the glove is securely fastened. To unfasten, it is only necessary to reverse the above operation.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, 1s
As an improved article of manufacture, a glove provided with a staple on one of the wrist-flaps and an eyelet on the other, and having the link E secured to the staple and provided with the handle F, adapted to be operated as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM D. THOMPSON.
